Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) is better known under her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound and the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. Later that year her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. Then, in November 2013, she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song was followed by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in the first week. In December 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
